Real-time formaldehyde alarm and monitoring system that will reduce the worker's exposure to the compound by 20% and reduce the concentration of formaldehyde in the air in the facilities where it is used, by 80%
Reduction of exposure to cancer caused by formaldehyde (LIFE SENSSEI)
Reference: LIFE 16 ENV / ES / 000232
The objective of the LIFE SENSSEI project is to reduce its impact on the environment and, especially, on the health of workers resulting from the presence of formaldehyde in industry. For this, a new formaldehyde in air detection and determination system is going to be developed based on fibre optics. The system will allow the characteristics and performance of the current formaldehyde in air measurement methods to be improved and to give results continuously in real time.

LIFE SENSSEI - FORMALDEHYDE SENSOR SYSTEM FOR SAFE ENVIRONMENTS IN THE INDUSTRY.
Formaldehyde is a carcinogenic compound used in the manufacture of resins and adhesives for the treatment of wood products, pulp, paper, glass wool and rock, and for the finishing of plastics and coatings, textiles and insulation. It is also used as a disinfectant and preservative, and as a precursor and industrial additive. As a hazardous substance, the use of formaldehyde is strictly controlled. Formaldehyde is classified in the EU as a carcinogen.
Is developing a real time formaldehyde monitoring and alarm system that will reduce worker's exposure to the compound by 20% and reduce the concentration of formladehyde in air at facilities where it es used by 80%.
